So um...a guy on a forum asked me to type a little sermon thingy for the "7 I AMs of John" And I wrote one ^_^;; I don't know how good it is or not, but I just thought I should here ya go ^_^;;

Okay, here's what I've written so far ^_^;;

I just have to say first of all, I absolutely love Jesus' analogies. Especially this one.

"The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they recognize his voice. They won't follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don't recognize his voice." ~John 10:3-5

This is the first verse that spoke to me. It makes me think of a Christian recognizing what is bad and good. The sheep know which voice is right and correct and know that voice will not let them down. Just as we know Jesus will never let us down. It takes a lot of faith to realize and believe that. We have to become like sheep to actually sit down from our busy lives and realize that we cannot live without Jesus. The reason we call non-Christians "lost" is because they are lost! They have no one to lead them. They are lost sheep. And what do sheep do when they're lost? They go out on their own and fall into traps and maybe even get eaten by their enemy--the wolf. It's so dangerous to be without a shepard-- their saviour. Without him, they are just waiting to be devoured, but with him they will be safe forever. And see, comparing this to Jesus and us, Jesus is going to protect us forever as long as we stay beside Him and follow Him for the rest of our lives.

"Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn't understand what he meant, so he explained it to them. "I assure you, I am the gate for the sheep," he said. "All others who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. Wherever they go, they will find green pastures. The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness."~John 10:6-10

So let's talk about this from a sheep's perspective. You are a sheep standing in a pasture eating grass with your mates (this is on an Australian forum) There's this guy who doesn't really look or act like a shepard, but is in shepard's clothing. This guy tells you where to go sometimes, but everytime he tells you something, you all get injured and sometimes your enemy the wolf eats one of you. There's even this beautiful pasture that you all want to go into, but your shepard won't let you because he says he doesn't know how to get in. And then there's this other guy who looks pretty sharp comes up daily and starts talking about how he can save you. Some sheep believe him, but some don't because they didn't really understand and trust the sharp guy. You have rejected him for a while, but as the weeks go on, you keep on seeing more and more of your sheep mates being destroyed by this weird looking shepard who doesn't really know what he's doing and the wolf. So one day when the sharp looking shepard comes up, you believe him and start following him. He greets you with a pat on the head which you're surprised of because the other guy never showed any kind of affection--he was just walk, talk, and die. So you meet all the other sheep and meet some pretty cool friends who tell you great stories about their lives with the Good Shepard. You're pretty impressed and while you've been walking along talking to your new mates, you discover that you're new shepard has lead you to the beautiful pasture you had always wanted to go to. You find out that this pasture has been what you've always believed it had been. It's awesome!! You ask your new shepard how He got in and he says, "...I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. Wherever they go, they will find green pastures. The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness." (~John 9-10) Those words astonish you. You absolutely cannot believe there is a shepard like this, but He's standing right in front of you and when you look into His eyes-- you just have to believe.

And you know what? That is just how we're supposed to be. Follow Him and He will lead us to great pastures. He is the only one who can lead us to great pastures. We may stubble and fall while getting there, but our Shepard will save us and lead us to where we're supposed to be.

I might expand some later~

And also I'm sick and exams are next week, so please pray for me!! ^_^;;
